I'm taking this opportunity to welcome myself to the wonderful world of the blog. It seems as though I've been living in some well hidden cave in one of the "stans" unaware of the the world and it's people feeling the overwhelming need to be heard (regardless of disposition or intelligence). With that being said (to whom is in question) I'm going to post my first blog in dedication to someone close to me...Roseanne. Yep, that's right no typo, the outrageous, slightly obese women that's sent to me through a series of unknowing cables and airwaves daily on my television. To me this woman is a genius.
She has taken the mundane, typical lower middle class family in the mid west and the mediocrity that goes with and turned it into entertainment. Now many people would hardly view this as genius but to me (and that is who really matters to me is... me, it's completely brilliant. Perhaps my view on this is slightly bias or distorted since I grew up in a lower middle class family in the mid west but I don't care. In the world of Roseanne the complexities of the universe and the ageless questions of mere existence fade away and for one half of one hour the biggest problems that humanity can possibly face are paying bills and dealing with unruly children and that's just fine with me. Because when all is said and all is done (whatever that means) you're just left with paying your bills and living life without some extravagant event on a day to day basis contrary to some popular belief somewhere. I believe Roseanne should be placed next to Socrates when it comes to life applicable philosophies. Some may cry blasphemy to this statement but fuck em...I don't see much difference between Roseanne's sarcastic view of life and Socrates' investigation of moral character...call me crazy...seriously. In conclusion Roseanne is underrated and if you've read this all I ask of you is this- Next time you watch a rerun of the Conner's in action, ask your inner most self...Is Roseanne a modern day prophet? Or simply a futile tool of entertainment to hypnotize the masses?
